Gang Using Fake inDrive App to Rob Passengers

Using AI cameras and tracking systems, the Punjab Safe Cities Authority found the suspects’ car and informed the Lahore police. Police quickly arrested them.

When the Police did the raid, police found cars, luxury items, weapons, and more than 200 SIM cards. They learned the suspects were pretending to be inDrive drivers to cheat and rob people.

Recently, there was another similar case where a driver stole food and expensive utensils worth Rs 45,000 from a family. This has made people more worried about the safety of ride-hailing services.

The operation was led by SHO Gulberg Lahore, Taimoor Abbas. The arrested men are Faisal, Farhan, Kashif, and Waleed. Police recovered stolen electronics, clothes, and other items worth hundreds of thousands of rupees, along with two illegal pistols.

Farhan, who worked as a software operator at the inDrive App Office, was the main planner. He made fake accounts for his friends to commit the crimes. Farhan also used to work with Careem before it closed in Pakistan.

SHO Taimoor Abbas said, “We caught them quickly because the inDrive team gave us important digital records. Today, police and tech companies must work together because criminals are using online platforms for fraud.”

Police have warned people to always use the official inDrive app to stay safe.
